Brick & Stone

Masonry restoration
that lasts.

Philadelphia is a brick-and-stone city, and its masonry needs real expertise to maintain. Oslick handles repointing, facade restoration, rebuilding, retaining walls, and structural masonry repair — using the right materials and methods so the work lasts for decades.

Failing mortar, spalling brick, and deteriorating facades aren't just cosmetic — they let water into the building and accelerate the damage. Oslick restores masonry properly, matching mortar and materials to the original so repairs blend in and perform the way they should.

Our masonry work spans repointing and tuckpointing, brick and stone rebuilding, facade and parapet restoration, retaining walls, and structural masonry repair. On historic buildings, we're careful to use compatible mortars rather than the hard modern mixes that can damage older brick.

Whether it's a full facade restoration or a structural repair behind the scenes, we treat masonry as the long-term investment it is — built once, built right, and built to handle Philadelphia weather.

Common Questions

About masonry work

How do I know if my brickwork needs repointing?

Crumbling, recessed, or cracked mortar joints are the clearest signs. If you can scrape mortar out by hand or see gaps between bricks, it's time to have the joints evaluated and repointed.

Why does matching the mortar matter on old buildings?

Older brick is softer than modern brick. Using a too-hard modern mortar can trap moisture and damage the surrounding brick, so we match mortar strength and composition to the original masonry.

Can you rebuild a section of failing wall or facade?

Yes. We rebuild damaged sections of brick and stone — including facades, parapets, and retaining walls — and tie the new work into the existing structure so it performs as one.
